Why can archived products no longer be opened or edited?

Revision-safe completion of products to ensure that reports, post-calculations, and process logic remain consistent and unaltered.

Archived products cannot be modified by design. This has several reasons:

An archived product in Keyline is considered technically and commercially finalized. At this point, all calculation, production, and billing data represent the binding actual state. Allowing changes afterward would compromise the integrity of post-calculations, reports, evaluations, and accounting data.

In addition, Keyline operates with clearly defined states and events (e.g. for production, invoicing, API integrations). Changing or rolling back archived products would break this process logic and potentially affect external integrations such as webhooks, APIs, and reporting.

In short:

πŸ‘‰ Archived = revision-safe and final.

This ensures that figures, processes, and analyses remain reliable and consistent.

If technical details need to change in the future, we recommend:

  • creating a new product template, or

  • creating a new product or follow-up order based on the archived data.
