Create and manage custom colors

Create and manage colors and use them in estimates

Written by Patric

Keyline already includes most CMYK and Pantone colors, as well as HKS colors.

If any colors are missing, or you use special varnishes or customer-specific colors, you can easily create them yourself.

Go to the admin area under Materials > Colors and create the color you need with its properties.

Click “New color” at the top right to give it any name you choose and define a small color preview. This preview only helps you select the color when estimating and has no effect on production.

You can then select all colors you have created when estimating.

The first time a color is used, Keyline automatically creates a corresponding material in the warehouse.

You can then view and adjust each color’s prices individually in material management.

Custom colors are treated as spot colors:

  • In offset printing, they are calculated like any other color.

  • In digital printing, they can be included using variables directly in formulas.

Example:

For example, to account for the color “Deckweiß” on an HP Indigo, you can use the following formula:

+(IF(CONTAINS(Colors on the back,"Deckweiss"),4,0))

This formula calculates 4 cents if the color “Deckweiss” is used on the back – otherwise 0 cents.
