Creating and configuring finishings

Options and creation of finishings

Written by Patric

Finishings are needed for all finishing tasks, such as dispersion coating, embossing and more.

Under Settings > Finishings, finishings can be:

  • edited

  • duplicated

  • created

  • or deleted

Finishing settings are divided into two sections:

General

The type of finishing defines the name of the finishing.

This must be identical to the name of the corresponding production task.

The finishing is therefore linked to the production task with the same name.

(You can find this link under: Production task > General > Create automatically: Create with each finishing of the same name.)

This ensures that creating a product automatically creates the appropriate finishing and corresponding production task, with the correct link between them.

The application scope defines where the finishing can be used: only on the entire product, only on components, or both.

For example, film lamination is always applied at component level, while binding is applied to the entire product. Bench work can, in principle, take place at either level.

SPECIFICATIONS

The specifications for a finishing are optional parameters that can be entered or selected in the calculation. All specifications can also be used as variables in the formulas for the relevant capability of the corresponding production task.

The name of a specification can be entered freely. For the data type, you can choose between Yes/No, Integer, Floating-point number, Enumeration or Text.

Select the Show on quotation/invoice checkbox to display the specification, if selected or filled in, on the quotation, order confirmation and invoice as well as in the production information.

You can optionally assign an individual finishing an alias – an alternative name that is shown to the customer.

For example, if you use the internal term gathering and stitching, you can show the customer saddle stitching instead.

You can also hide finishings.

Intermediate cutting and similar internal steps are needed for calculation and organisation, but do not necessarily need to be shown to the customer.

This helps you communicate more clearly with customers while still representing all necessary production steps accurately within your business.
