Calculate and work with product templates

Written by Patric

In the admin area under Templates > Products, you can manage product templates and create new ones.

Click “Create product template” in the top right and choose a name and a category.

You can choose from the following standard categories:

  • Sticker

  • Loose-leaf collection

  • Pad

  • Book

  • Envelope

  • Business card

You can also define your own categories — simply type in any category.

Categories mainly help you find templates faster when creating quotes.

It is important to set up products carefully so you have a reliable basis for reprints or regularly produced products.

This also ensures that Keyline calculates the product correctly and precisely calculates times, materials and waste allowances.

Note:

As a general rule, you should create no more than 20–30 product templates.

Otherwise, it is easy to lose track. Templates also need to be updated manually if, for example, a finishing is changed or extended.

For repeat production, always refer back to the product already produced.

The contact person, customer, payment terms, shipping and so on are then already based on the previous production and only need to be updated.
