Manage and Create Materials

Written by Patric
Updated this week

Under Warehouse β†’ Materials you will find all materials stored in Keyline β€” including paper.

In the material management you can:

  • search the warehouse

  • duplicate, edit, or delete materials

  • adjust all relevant settings such as:

Procurement behavior

  • automatic or manual purchasing

Inventory

  • quantities

  • storage locations

Prices

  • price per unit

  • packaging units

Category assignment

  • e.g. inks, adhesives, auxiliary materials

Dimensions and units

  • e.g. square meters, running meters, pieces

Paper Setup

Paper itself is always created in Admin β†’ Paper, either:

  • via a paper import or material import (e.g. from your Excel sheet or a supplier catalog)

  • or manually as a single entry

During paper setup you can define additional properties such as:

  • grammage

  • environmental certifications (FSC, PEFC, etc.)

  • grain direction

  • surface properties (coated, uncoated, glossy, matte)

  • standard formats and color properties

Important

Once paper has been created, it is automatically linked to a material entry in the warehouse upon first use.

All subsequent changes such as:

  • inventory adjustments

  • price updates

  • warehouse movements (e.g. goods receipt, consumption, transfers)

are handled directly within the material management.

This ensures that calculation data and inventory data always remain synchronized.

Creating New Materials

When creating a new material, simply enter the material name.

You can also define the category directly:

  • Enter a new category and confirm it with Enter to create it.

  • Alternatively, select an existing category using the as-you-type search. Typing one or two letters is enough β€” Keyline will automatically suggest matching categories that already exist.
