Keyline distinguishes between 3 types of outsourcing, depending on the proportion of a product that is manufactured externally.

You can choose from the following options on the "Outsourcing" tab:

  • Outsource everythingThe entire production, including delivery, is carried out by the supplier. In this mode production information such as printing and substrate are not necessary. If you want to provide substrate information to the supplier, enter it in the component.

  • Outsource everything but logisticsThe entire production takes place at one supplier, but packing and shipping is inhouse by yourself. In this mode, Keyline only creates operations for packing and shipping. Production information such as printing and substrate are not necessary. If you want to provide substrate information to the supplier, enter it in the component.

  • Outsource only specifics tasksOnly individual operations are outsourced to a vendor. The rest of the production, packaging and shipping takes place in your company. Production information must be entered in this mode.

If you always want to procure certain operations externally, you can set this in the admin area under Templates/Tasks with the option "Outsourced".

The expected arrival and completion by the external service provider can also be specified here, so that Keyline takes this into account in planning.

(At the moment, it has no effect on the planning algorithm).
