In Keyline, a production task is any production step that needs to be scheduled. It is independent of the production resource, because a task can be carried out on different machines or resources – provided they have the appropriate capabilities.
For example, several machines can have the same capability, or one machine can provide several capabilities.
A classic example: the Heidelberg Platen can perforate, die-cut, emboss, crease, and more.
The combination of incoming goods and materials and outgoing goods provides the basis for Keyline to position each task unambiguously within the production flow.
This enables automated, intelligent production planning.
Each production task in Keyline can have:
Time formulas (e.g. setup, execution or cleanup time)
Raw material requirements
Waste values
Special costs
and links to production resources
assigned to it.
This flexibility allows even highly customized or manual processes to be integrated into the production flow in detail – without being tied to a rigid template.
Keyline automatically creates the complete production flow based on the stored parameters, material flows, capabilities and production resource availability. This means: No one needs to assign or schedule individual production tasks manually – Keyline takes care of that for you.
Intelligently connecting production logic, machine capabilities, material inputs and outputs and production times enables Keyline to, among other things,
automatically determine the sequence of work steps and run production tasks in parallel whenever possible
This significantly reduces the planning effort, minimizes errors and lets production focus on what matters – carrying out the work.
In addition, dynamic formulas, conditional logic (e.g. depending on format, quantity or special features) and links to material availability and warehouse logic ensure that the production flow always remains up to date and valid, even when requirements are complex or change.
Here you can see exactly what and how much the task produced and what is passed on to the next task:
