Configure the general settings of a production resource

Under Name, define the production resource’s unique name. Use the Category to assign its type (e.g. offset press, digital press, cutting machine, etc.).

Under Cost per hour, define the hourly rate of the production resource.

The creation and naming of the production resource’s production storage location happen automatically based on its name. This location can then be used for stock postings and is available under Warehouse > Storage locations.

If multiple production locations have been created under Settings > Facilities, you can assign them to the production resource here.

For printing presses in the Offset press category only, the Configuration defines the arrangement of inking units, coating units and the perfecting unit. Later in costing, this configuration affects variables such as “Number of printing passes”.

The Gripper defines the height and position of the gripper margin. The option “Requires opposite gripper margin when printing on both sides” ensures the opposite gripper margin is also taken into account in imposition (e.g. when using work-and-tumble or perfecting).

Under Restrictions, you can optionally define minimum and maximum values for grammages and formats. This function currently applies only to printing presses. If the print sheet format does not fit the selected machine, Keyline reports this during costing.

IMPORTANT:

Keyline currently does not define exactly where cutting takes place. The cut format is therefore not passed on.

In particular, when taking multiple copies on a sheet into finishing, a detailed definition of the cutting layout is required.

So please do not define format restrictions for other production resources.
