Kickstarter and Indiegogo gives you the ability to utilize Google Analytics in order to receive additional data about the performance of your campaign.

While you can leverage the data received by Google Analytics to better understand your campaign's performance, Kickbooster uses it as a tracking method, in addition to platform-specific tracking methods, to help track and gather information about referred pledges made to your crowdfunding campaign.

In this article, you will find information on the following:

Creating a Google Analytics 4 Property

To use Google Analytics for your Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaign, you must add a GA4 tracking ID (can also be referenced as Google tag ID, Measurement ID, or simply, a tracking ID — usually starts with a "G-"), however, you will first need to create a Google Analytics 4 property in order to get a tracking ID.

Adding your GA4 tracking ID to your Campaign

If you're launching a referral program for a Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign, you need to add your GA4 tracking ID to your campaign settings page so Kickbooster can connect to it and start tracking referrals.

Connecting Kickbooster to Google Analytics

Note:

  • Kickbooster automatically detects the tracking ID that is placed in your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign settings page.

  • If you require a change to the tracking ID that is being detected, all you need to do is update the tracking ID in your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign settings in order for us to detect the new ID.

    • It can take up to 4 hours to detect an updated tracking ID. Please reach out to team@kickbooster.me if the new tracking ID is not being displayed after this time.

If your GA4 tracking ID has been successfully added to your campaign page, Kickbooster will detect your tracking ID and will display it in your Settings page.

1. To connect Kickbooster to your Google Analytics tracking ID, click 'Connect Now'.

2. You will then be prompted to log into your Google Account and allow Kickbooster access to your Google Analytics.

Note: Ensure that you are logging into the same Google Account associated with your Google Analytics account with the corresponding GA4 tracking ID. Logging into the incorrect account/not authorized user email account will not allow you to connect.

3. If done correctly, your Settings page will indicate that Kickbooster is successfully connected to your Google Analytics.

And now, you're good to move onto the next step — adding Kickbooster as a collaborator to your campaign!

Based on where you're launching your campaign, you can reference either of the following articles to help you complete the next step:
