When promoting a referral program through Kickbooster, you’ll be provided with a unique referral link—this is known as your short URL. It’s important to understand the difference between the short URL and the long URL:

  • Short URL: This is the unique referral link Kickbooster generates for you. It helps track both clicks and conversions.

  • Long URL: This is the final destination link, which directs users to the crowdfunding campaign or online store you are promoting.

Can I Use Both Short and Long URLs?

While you can technically share both the short and long URLs, here’s what you need to know:

  • Short URL Tracking: When you use your short URL, we can track the number of clicks your referral link receives as well as the resulting conversions (sales or pledges). This data is essential for you to see how effective your promotional efforts are.

  • Long URL Tracking: If you share the long URL, we can still track the conversions, but we won't be able to track the number of clicks on your link. This is because the long URL takes users directly to the campaign or store without first passing through Kickbooster, which means we can’t log the click data.

Why You Should Use Your Short URL

Using your short URL ensures that Kickbooster can capture the full picture of your referral performance, including both the clicks and the conversions. This provides you with valuable insights into how well your promotion is working and helps ensure you're properly credited for your referrals.
