Work schedules in a People by Wagepoint time-off policy are used to tell the system how many hours to deduct from an employee's bank of available hours. For example, if your company has an 8 hour work day your work schedule could be 9:00am - 5:00pm. It is important for the number of hours in your work day to match the number of hours in your work schedule.
You also have the option to add break time (for lunch, etc.) into your work schedule. Note that break time will be deducted from the total amount of time the employee takes by default. Your work hours minus break time should equal the amount of hours in your work day (so, 8 hours would be 9-5:30 with a half-hour break).
A work schedule configuration doesn’t always reflect the actual hours someone is working, nor does People by Wagepoint track hours worked through the work schedule.
For example, if you have eight hours in a work day and your work schedule is set from 7am-9pm employees will be taking more than one 8-hour day when they make a full-day request or if the request spans multiple days.
If you have employees who work different hours you could create separate policies for them, or you could have one policy and instruct your employees on taking time off within the set work schedule in People by Wagepoint.
