This guide provides step-by-step instructions for integrating Kintsugi as a tax calculation service with BigCommerce. Follow these steps carefully to enable accurate sales tax calculations on your BigCommerce store.

Installing Kintsugi from the BigCommerce App Store

  1. Access the BigCommerce App Store

2. Install the Kintsugi App

  • Click on Kintsugi from the BigCommerce marketplace app search results.

  • Select Install to add Kintsugi to your BigCommerce store. This is what the installation page would look like the below.



  • After Installing, you will be asked for confirmation, click confirm to start the installation of Kintsugi app in your BigCommerce store.




3. Sign In to Kintsugi

  • Once the installation is complete, you will be redirected to Kintsugi’s login page. This is what the page looks like.

  • Sign in to your Kintsugi account. If you don’t have an account, follow the prompts to create one.

Connecting Your BigCommerce Store to Kintsugi

  1. Select Your Organization

  2. Initial Sync

    • The ‘Enable’ button will be active once:

      • All the Organizational details are correctly added.

      • There are active tax registrations within the selected organization in Kintsugi.

    • The initial data synchronization between Kintsugi and your BigCommerce store is designed to occur automatically upon connecting the two platforms. This process may take a few minutes, depending on the volume of data in your store.

Completing the Task List

  1. Here’s a preview of the task list, accompanied by a screenshot of the screen for reference.

  2. Enter Organizational Details: Provide accurate information about your organization.


  3. Specify Physical Presence: Identify and list all locations where your business has a physical presence.


  4. Approve Products: Review and approve the products, if applicable, to ensure they meet the required criteria.


Enabling Tax Calculation

  • Locate the Enable option in the Kintsugi settings.

  • The Enable button will be available once the following conditions are met:

    • The initial sync is completed.

    • All required organization details are added in Kintsugi.

    • Active tax registrations are present within the organization.

  • Confirm Configuration

    • Once tax calculation is enabled, verify that Settings > Tax in BigCommerce shows Kintsugi as the configured tax service.


Disabling Tax Calculation

  1. Locate the Disable option in the Kintsugi settings.


  2. The Disable button will be available once the tax calculation is enabled in the Kintsugi Application.

  4. After disabling the tax calculation, we can verify that Settings > Tax shows the default Basic Tax.
