Need help managing your business taxes? This guide walks you through the process of authorizing Kintsugi as your tax representative using a Power of Attorney (POA) if necessary.

Step 1: Check If You Can Share Your State Tax Credentials

Some states allow businesses to grant access by sharing tax login credentials. Here’s how to check:

1. Contact your state’s Department of Revenue

State

Abbreviation

Phone Number

Notes

Pennsylvania

PA

(717) 787-1064

Press 3 for sales and use tax, then press 4 for all other sales tax issues, enter your ID.

2. Request your business tax login credentials: username and password.

3. Complete any required verification steps.

If your state provides login credentials, share them with Kintsugi so we can begin managing your tax filings. If not, proceed with authorizing Kintsugi through a Power of Attorney POA.

Step 2: Fill Out the Power of Attorney Form

If credentials aren’t available, you’ll need to complete a POA form to allow Kintsugi to handle your business tax matters.

  1. Gather the necessary details for both your business and Kintsugi before completing the form. See Step 3 for obtaining required information from Kintsugi, which includes the representative information.

  2. Specify the tax types and periods covered by the POA.

  3. Sign and date the form as required by the state.

  4. Notarization is required for the state of Pennsylvania.

Step 3: Get Required Information from Kintsugi

Before submitting the POA, ensure you have the following details from Kintsugi:

  • Name of the Representative

  • Address

  • Telephone Number

  • Fax Number

Important:

The POA form must be signed by the Kintsugi representative. If not signed and dated, the POA form will be returned.

Step 4: Submit Your POA Form

It is indicated on the form that while tax practitioners are encouraged to maintain declarations of authority to handle clients’ tax matters within their own records, tax practitioners should not submit unsolicited REV-677 forms to the department en masse or as a matter of routine. Such forms will be disregarded.

A REV-677 form should only be submitted to an individual within the department upon an agent’s request for such authorization.

If a department representative has requested a REV-677 form to authorize discussion of confidential tax matters with a third party, please return the form to the department representative as requested.

Step 5: Notify Kintsugi

Once your POA is approved:

  1. Let Kintsugi know so we can start managing your business taxes.

  2. Provide confirmation of POA approval.

  3. Share any reference numbers or documents received from the state.

By following these steps, you can ensure a seamless authorization process, allowing Kintsugi to put your sales tax on autopilot. If you need further assistance, contact us at success@trykintsugi.com.
