Ohio – Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Ohio Business Gateway (OBG)

This article walks you through how to log into Ohio Business Gateway (OBG) website and update your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) settings. Adding Kintsugi’s secure group email allows us to access your Ohio tax registration directly—no phone calls or back-and-forth codes needed.


✅ What You’ll Need

  • OBG login page

  • Your OBG login credentials (username & password)

  • Kintsugi Mail's Virtual Mail Group ID
    [Go to Configuration > Kintsugi Mail > Virtual Mail Group > Group ID)

  • Just 5–7 minutes of your time


🔐 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into the OBG

    1. Go to https://myportal.tax.ohio.gov/TAP/_/ and click “Log in or Create an OHID Account”.

    2. Input your credentials then click “Log In”.

    3. If prompted with “Choose a method”, click on the “Send Code” option at the right side of the registered email where do you want to receive the verification code.

    4. Input the One-time PIN received to the chosen registered email and click “Submit”.

  2. Go to your account settings

    1. Once logged in, click your “Manage My Profile” in the top-right corner.

    2. Go to “Email” and click on “Update Email".

  3. Update your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) method

    1. Look for “Email” setup and click “Edit”.

    2. If prompted with “Are you sure you want to edit your email address?”, click “Edit Email”.

    3. Access the Virtual Mail Group (VMG) ID within the Kintsugi app.
      Navigate to: Configuration > Kintsugi Mail > Virtual Mail Group > Group ID

      Copy the VMG ID:

      ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Please make sure to add your personal or work email in the Virtual Mail Group. This is to ensure you continuously receive important updates and messages from state portals.     4. Simply paste the Virtual Group Mail ID you copied from the Kintsugi platform into the designated field below. After entering the required information, click "Save Changes" and then "Continue" to proceed.

  4. Verify the change

    • A verification code will be sent to the email address you linked to Kintsugi’s Virtual Mail Group (VMG)

    • Copy the verification code that was sent to the email—the one you added or connected in the Virtual Mail Group. Then, paste it into the website or portal to verify and complete the 2FA setup.

    Once verified, your account is now connected, and Kintsugi can access it as needed.
