Ohio – Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Ohio Business Gateway (OBG)

This article walks you through how to log into Ohio Business Gateway (OBG) website and update your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) settings. Adding Kintsugi’s secure group email allows us to access your Ohio tax registration directly—no phone calls or back-and-forth codes needed.


✅ What You’ll Need

  • OBG login page

  • Your OBG login credentials (username & password)

  • Kintsugi Mail's Virtual Mail Group ID
    [Go to Configuration > Kintsugi Mail > Virtual Mail Group > Group ID)

  • Just 5–7 minutes of your time


🔐 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into the OBG

    1. Go to https://myportal.tax.ohio.gov/TAP/_/ and click “Log in or Create an OHID Account”.

    2. Input your credentials then click “Log In”.

    3. If prompted with “Choose a method”, click on the “Send Code” option at the right side of the registered email where do you want to receive the verification code.

    4. Input the One-time PIN received to the chosen registered email and click “Submit”.

  2. Go to your account settings

    1. Once logged in, click “Account Settings”

    2. Click “2-Step Verification”

    3. To proceed, click “Manage”

  3. Update your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) method

    1. Under Security tab, click “Add New Method”

  4. Highlight and copy the email address listed in the virtual mail group
    Example: file-upload-demo-cody@tax-platform.com
    (Check your Kintsugi app: Configuration > Kintsugi Mail > Virtual Mail Group > Group ID)

    1. Paste the Virtual Mail Group ID in the Ohio State website and click “Send Access Code” from the bottom of the page

  5. Verify the change

  • A verification code will be sent to Kintsugi Mail’s inbox

  • You’ll see this code appear in your Kintsugi Operations Inbox

  • Enter the code on OBG to verify and complete the setup

Once verified, your account is now connected, and Kintsugi can access it as needed.
