Step 4: Enable Shipping Address Validation

In Shipping Address Validation, enable the toggles and click Proceed. You can update your toggle choices later if necessary.

Note: After you have completed this integration process, you can run address validation checks when required. After enabling Kintsugi, the Chargebee-Kintsugi integration validates the taxable address for all new customers who subscribe to you. All the existing subscriptions' taxable addresses get validated during the first validation check run after the integration is configured.

When Sales Tax Collection Begins

IMPORTANT: Chargebee Tax-Engine Integration's sales tax collection begins as soon as a registration enters one of the following statuses:

  • Processing

  • Validating

  • Registered

This applies whether you create the registration directly from Kintsugi or import it into your account.

  • Clicking "Register" in the Kintsugi app is submitting a request for registration. A successful submission of the request moves the state's status into Processing/Validating/Registered).

  • Imported registrations also begin collecting tax once they appear in one of these statuses.

  • The effective date and click date do not control when tax collection starts — it’s entirely based on the registration status.

To confirm tax is being collected, go to Registrations tab and check if the state's registration status shows Processing, Validating, or Registered.

Unlinking the Integration

To disconnect the Kintsugi integration from Chargebee:

  1. Go to Apps > Apps Connected > Kintsugi

  2. Click Unlink integration.

Important Reminder

The address features in Kintsugi (validation, addition, updates, etc.) only affect data inside Kintsugi. They won’t sync back to your source system in Chargebee.

If you see missing or incorrect addresses, be sure to update them in the source system as well.

Also adjust your source system settings to make sure future transactions capture full address data.

⚠️ Chargebee Auto-Cancel Behavior
Chargebee automatically cancels any subscription renewal that has an invalid address.

  • To prevent unexpected cancellations, ensure all renewals have a valid address before enabling tax calculation with Kintsugi.

  • If you want to disable this auto-cancel feature, contact the Chargebee Support Team before turning on tax calculation.
