Yes! Users have the ability to cancel a rental that has been accepted or requested. The system is "double triggered" which means, that if the renter or gear owner requests a change, the other user must accept that change. KitSplit's standard cancelation policy applies (at the end of this article).

How do I cancel my rental?

  1. Go to the rental page on KitSplit.com and click "Cancel Request"
  2. Next, select the reason you'd like to cancel your request
  3. Once you've picked a reason for cancelling, click "Cancel Rental"
  4. The other user will notified of the rental's cancellation via email

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

For renters:

If a renter cancels more than 24 hours prior to reservation, there is a full refund except for fees & insurance.

If a renter cancels less than 24 hours ahead of the rental period, they will be charged 50% of the rental fee.

If a renter cancels during the rental period, there is no refund.

Note: KitSplit fees, short-term insurance and damage waivers are always non-refundable when a rental is canceled.

For owners:

We highly discourage owners from cancelling—you should never accept a rental unless you are certain you can fulfill it. However, if you are an owner and need to cancel because of an unforeseen event, email us at contact@kitsplit.com.  Whenever you cancel a rental, you’ll get an automated review on your profile saying that you cancelled. After the first time you cancel, there will be a $50 penalty fee per cancellation. Any applicable cancellation fees are automatically deducted from your next rental payout.
