Yes! We make sure your gear is covered. Renters must either purchase damage coverage or insurance, or put a deposit on their card for the full value of the equipment. Overall, we do everything in our power to minimize the possibility that anything will go wrong through extensive vetting, and a reviews and rating system. As a result, damage and theft are extremely rare on KitSplit. If something DOES go wrong, KitSplit will do everything in our power to promptly fix, or replace your item.

However,  our insurance is not a replacement for owner's insurance: we also highly encourage owners to get their own annual insurance policy. This is a best practice for anyone with expensive gear, and allows for ultimate peace of mind. Additionally, it is important to note that there are extremely rare cases when KitSplit's coverage may not apply. The insurance industry differentiates between theft and disappearance:  by their definition, theft is when the item is stolen from the renter. Disappearance, or "voluntary parting," is when the renter disappears with the equipment, which is extremely rare (under .01% of all rentals or under 1/1000 rentals). The insurance options and damage coverage available on KitSplit do cover theft, however they do not cover fraud or voluntary parting. To get coverage for voluntary parting, you can purchase an annual policy that includes voluntary parting coverage. You can email service@athosinsurance.com to purchase an annual policy with voluntary parting coverage, or visit AthosInsurance.com.
