Manual Size Chart Placement (Block Option)

Updated yesterday

Why this change exists

One of the most common questions we get about Kiwi is where the size chart appears on the product page.
With different themes, custom layouts, and third-party apps, automatic placement doesn’t always land exactly where merchants expect.

To improve this, we’ve started rolling out placement improvements. This article explains the first iteration and how to choose the best placement method for your store.

How the Custom size chart placement toggle works

  • On:
The size chart will appear where you place the Kiwi app block on the product page, unless a selector is set in the app’s Display Settings.

  • Off:
Kiwi will ignore the app block and display the size chart using the selector chosen or your themes default placement.

If your size chart is already appearing correctly, you don’t need to enable this.

How to enable custom size chart placement using the app block

  1. Go to Online Store in your Shopify admin.

  2. Click Edit theme.

  3. Open the product template where your size chart is assigned

(in most cases, this will be the Default product template).

  4. Find the Kiwi Size Chart app block.

  5. Enable the Custom size chart placement toggle.

  6. Drag the app block to your desired location on the page - for example, below or after the variant selector.

  7. Save your changes.

Once enabled, the size chart will appear where you place the block, unless a selector is set in the app’s Display Settings.

Which placement option should I use?

Use Custom Injection if:

  • You want the size chart inline or horizontally aligned with another element (for example, next to the size selector or variant options)

  • Your theme uses a highly customized product layout

  • You need precise control tied to an existing element on the page

👉 Inline placements work best with custom injection, as app blocks are placed as standalone sections and cannot always align perfectly next to other elements.

Use App Block Placement if:

  • You want a simple, visual way to control placement

  • You’re placing the size chart between sections (above or below content)

Leave everything as-is if:

  • Your size chart is already appearing in the correct location

  • You haven’t customized your product page layout

How Kiwi decides where to place the size chart

Kiwi uses a priority-based placement logic to make sure the size chart always appears somewhere on the product page:

  1. Custom Injection (Style & Settings)
If you are using custom injection, Kiwi will try to place the size chart exactly where your injection target exists.

  2. App Block Placement (if enabled)
If custom injection is not detected or fails, and the Custom size chart placement toggle is enabled, Kiwi will place the chart where you added the app block.

  3. Default Fallback Placement
If neither option works, Kiwi falls back to placing the size chart near the first “Add to Cart” form element on the page.

This ensures the chart remains visible even if a specific placement method isn’t compatible with your theme.

Common questions

Why is my app block ignored?

If custom injection is enabled, it always takes priority over block placement.
To use the app block instead, disable custom injection in Style & Settings.

My size chart still isn’t in the right spot - what should I do?
