Send Non-PHI Fax allows you to send a fax that is not about a patient. Unlike standard PHI fax releases, Non-PHI faxes do not require patient demographics to be entered.
This feature is particularly advantageous in situations that require sending documents unrelated to patient records, ensuring compliance with PHI guidelines while facilitating smooth general communication.
While it is possible to send record requests via a Non-PHI fax, the recommended workflow is to use the "Release" or "Request Records" option when patient data is involved. Those workflows are optimized for securely and efficiently handling patient-related information, and the patient information is recorded in the Activity Report. When sending a Non-PHI fax, no patient details are recorded in the Activity Report.
Steps
Non-PHI faxes are utilized in scenarios where the document does not include patient information or when no association with a patient record is necessary.
Select Release and select the dropdown arrow to the right of New Release. Select Send Non-PHI Fax.
Enter a Subject.
Enter a 'To' number.
Select a 'From' number.
Optional: add a message for the recipient.
Click Browse to add your attachment(s).
Click Send and you will be returned to the Released Grid.
When sending a Non-PHI fax, no patient details are recorded in the Activity Report.
