Best practices on using KYT with multiple teams

  • ๐Ÿ”ถ For you, as the account owner, I'd recommend using ALL the tools with your direct reports โ€“ but potentially not all at once. To start, I would focus on the One-on-Ones Tool, the Heartbeat Check-in, Social Questions, and Shout-outs. The Culture Question is something you might turn on after the first month or so ask the question once every 2 weeks.

  • ๐Ÿ”ต For each individual team, I'd similarly recommend that your direct reports focus on the One-on-Ones Tool, the Heartbeat Check-in, Social Questions, and Shout-outs, first. You might even initially have them just solely focused on the One-on-Ones Tool and Social Questions, just to keep things simple for them in the first few weeks, and then add in the Heartbeat Check-in.

  • โค๏ธ Regarding the Heartbeat Check-in I have two recommendations: If you want a team to focus on alignment, I might recommend setting the Heartbeat Check-in to be once a week and ask, "What's your #1 focus?" Or, if you want a team to focus on progress + transparency of progress, I might recommend setting the Heartbeat Check-in to be once and week and ask "What did you work on yesterday and what will you work on today?" Either way, feel free to adjust the Heartbeat frequency + question for each team to be what is most salient for that team.

  • ๐Ÿ—บ At any time, you can view all the teams here.

That's it! Excited for your managers + employees to benefit from "Teams."

Then, you'll want to make sure you add the corresponding manager to that team.

Here are a few other resources to get the most out of "Teams":
