Targeting ensures your ads reach the right audience, boosting visibility for specific searches and helping you get noticed by the most relevant travelers.

The Booking Network Sponsored Ads program allows you to set up targeting in countless ways to reach your ideal audience.


Note: This can only be done in Custom Campaigns, under the Ad Group setup page.


Traveler Cohorts You Can Target

  • Group: Target travelers booking for more than one room at a time.

  • Check-In Date: Target travelers checking in on specific dates or within a date range (using the BETWEEN option).

  • Length of Stay: Target travelers staying a specific number of nights or within a range.

  • Traveler Country: Target travelers from specific countries.

  • Device Type: Target travelers using desktop, mobile, or app.

  • Travel Window: Target travelers booking within a set window (e.g., last-minute bookings with 0-1 day travel window).

  • Day of the Week - Target travelers checking in on specific days (i.e. Monday, Tuesday… )


Available Targeting Parameters

  • Boost: Increase your base bid by a specific amount when your ad is shown to the selected audience. The minimum value is $0.25 USD. For example, if your base bid is $1.00 and your boost bid is $0.50, your final bid will be $1.50.

  • Multiplier: Multiply your base bid by the chosen value. The minimum multiplier bid is 100%. For example, if your base bid is $1.00 and your multiplier is 150%, your final bid will be $1.50.

  • Exact: Limit ad exposure to only the audience that matches your exact criteria. The minimum bid is $0.75 USD.

Note: Boosts and Multipliers can be combined. If both are used, they are applied as: (Base Bid * Multipliers) + Boost.

⚠️ Important: Exact targeting cannot be combined with any increasing bid parameters (Boost or Multiplier), as Exact will override them.


Targeting Automation

Activate Targeting Automation to automatically target the most valuable audiences for your hotel. This eliminates the need for manual updates, optimizing your campaign performance and budget utilization.

Recommended for:

  • Advertisers with Limited Insights: Automatically adjusts bids based on audience data, ideal for those with little to no campaign history.

  • New Advertisers: Helps those new to digital advertising by automating targeting and bid adjustments, ensuring optimized campaigns even without experience.

  • Time-Constrained Advertisers: Saves time by managing bid adjustments and audience targeting, letting you focus on other aspects of your business.

  • Improving Campaign Performance: Boost your ROAS by fine-tuning targeting and bid strategies automatically.


How to Add Targeting to Existing Ad Groups

To update targeting on existing ad groups:

  1. Go to your Campaigns page.

  2. Hover over the Campaign Name.

  3. Click the pencil icon (✏️) next to the Ad Group you want to edit.

  4. Modify the Targeting options as needed.
