Kognity's Insights includes several capabilities to support you in monitoring your students’ progress. Insights add the ability to filter data by time period, students (all-individual), topics and subtopics, and activity type. You can also view details of individual student assessment attempts and results.

The Insights tab is divided into a Reflections Tab that you can use to assess students' conceptual understanding of the course, the Textbook Tab where you can keep track of students’ reading progress, the Questions tab that provides detailed information on student performance on all questions they take in the book, which include the practice centre as well as questions assigned by you. It also includes Last Activity tab which has an overview of your class' progress in the book. If you wish to read the article on the Questions tab in Insights, click here.

Please note: Currently, Reflections are only available for Kognity's IB DP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics FE2025 subjects.

So what’s in the 'Last activity' tab?

The 'Last activity' tab provides a snapshot of student activity in your class, allowing you to:

  • Gauge current activity levels and identify who may need support or praise.

  • Identify students who are actively engaging with readings and assignments.

  • Identify students who may need to redo an assignment.

This tab provides a quick overview of student activity in your class. It shows the last time students were active on the platform, the last five textbook sections they accessed (gray if they only opened the section, green if they marked it as "Complete" or submitted their reflections), and you can hover over each section to see the title. Additionally, it displays the last five assignments sent to them (gray if not submitted, green if submitted), and you can hover over each icon to see the assignment name. Clicking on each assignment allows you to view the assignment's results.

By clicking on an individual student from the list, you can delve deeper into their performance:

  • Explore their performance and effort in more detail.

  • Share this information with the student, parents, or other teachers to provide supporting evidence for their summaries.

  • Identify the student's learning style; for instance, whether they prefer strength tests or Strength Battles over answering aloud in class.

The student's performance is divided into:

Textbook Statistics

This section provides an overview of student progress through the textbook. It includes the number of completed sections compared to the total number of sections available. The "Section status" column indicates whether a section has been "Opened" (in gray) or "Completed" (in green). You can click on the "Section name" to navigate directly to that module. The "Last opened" column shows the date the module was last accessed, while the "First completed" column shows the date it was first marked as complete or when reflections were submitted.

Assignment Statistics

This section offers an overview of the student's assignment performance. It shows the number of submitted assignments compared to the total number received. Assignments are displayed only after the deadline has passed. The "Completed" column features a green checkmark if the assignment was submitted on time. Clicking on the "Assignment name" takes you directly to the assignment's result. The "Type" column indicates the assignment type, with a bookmark for reading assignments and a pencil for question assignments. For reading assignments, the "Sections completed" column shows the number of completed modules. For question assignments, the "Questions correct" column displays the number of correct answers versus the total questions in the assignment. The "Deadline" column shows the assignment's deadline.

Strength tests and battles

This section displays the Strength tests and Strength battles completed by the student, along with their score and completion date.
