Please note: Currently, Reflections are only available for the following Kognity subjects - IB DP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics FE2025, IB DP Business Management FE2024, and IB DP Environmental Systems and Societies FE2026.

Kognity's Insights includes several capabilities to support you in monitoring your students’ progress. Insights add the ability to filter data by time period, students (all-individual), topics and subtopics, and activity type. You can also view details of individual student assessment attempts and results.

The Insights section is divided into four tabs:

  • Reflections: Assess students' conceptual understanding of the course.

  • Textbook: Track students’ reading progress.

  • Questions: Get detailed information on student performance on all questions in the book, including those in the practice center and questions you've assigned.

  • Last Activity: Get an overview of your class's progress in the book.

What are Reflection Questions?

Reflection questions are located at the end of each subtopic and are designed to give students the opportunity to reflect on their learning. Students return to the subtopic's guiding questions, consider what they've learned, and write down their thoughts.

What’s in the 'Reflections' tab?

The "Reflections" tab is a valuable tool that allows you to keep track of your students’ developing perspectives through each topic. It provides a quick overview of which students have submitted their reflection questions (marked in green), which haven't (marked in purple), and any students flagged by you for revision (marked in yellow). You can also filter your view by individual students and by topic.

Once students have submitted their reflection questions, you can easily identify the completed ones (marked in green). Click on the desired topic to see the students' answers, provide feedback, add personal notes, and flag answers for later review.

Additionally, you can export the data of students who have or haven't submitted their reflection questions to a CSV file, using the filters you've set in the 'Insights' tab.
