Linking Your Bank Account via Plaid

Connecting your bank accounts to Kordis using Plaid allows for automated, real-time tracking of your actual cash flow. This integration ensures your Cash Flow Tools are always populated with the most up-to-date data directly from your financial institutions.

How to Connect Plaid

Follow these steps to link your bank account:

  1. Navigate to Integrations: Click on the Integrations tab in the bottom-left sidebar of your Kordis dashboard.

  2. Add New Integration: Click the + Other Integrations button located in the top-right corner of the Linked Accounts page.

  3. Select Plaid: In the "Link Account" pop-up window, select the Plaid icon and click Link.

  4. Launch Plaid Link: You will be redirected to the Plaid connection portal. Click Continue to proceed.

    • Tip: If you have used Plaid before, you can enter your phone number to quickly find your previously linked accounts. Otherwise, select Continue as guest.

  5. Select Your Bank: Search for and select your financial institution (e.g., Chase, Bank of America, etc.).

  6. Authenticate: Follow your bank's specific login prompts to securely authenticate your credentials.

  7. Select Accounts: This is a critical step—check the boxes for all specific accounts (Checking, Savings, Credit Cards, etc.) that you want to import into Kordis for cash flow monitoring.

  8. Confirm & Link: Review the permissions and click Connect account information.

  9. Save in Kordis: Once you see the "Success" message, click Save to return to the Kordis Integrations page.

What Happens Next?

  • Initial Sync: After saving, Kordis will immediately begin fetching your transaction history. The Sync Status will show as "Syncing" and typically takes a few seconds to a few minutes to complete.

  • Data Availability: Once the status changes to "Completed," your bank data is ready.

  • View Results: Head over to Cash Flow Tools > Dashboard to see your real-time bank balances and historical cash movements.

Management Controls

To manage specific bank integrations, click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the account name. You will see the following options:

  • Delete: Permanently removes the integration and all associated bank data from Kordis.

  • Disable: Temporarily stops new data from flowing into the platform without deleting the connection.

  • Link Again: Use this if you encounter a connection error or if your credentials have expired. This is common if your bank requires updated security authentication.

  • Sync Data: Manually triggers a fresh pull of data from your bank. This is useful if you’ve recently made transactions that aren't yet visible in your Kordis dashboard.

  • Exclude Accounts: Allows you to selectively remove specific sub-accounts from your dashboard.

How to Exclude Specific Sub-Accounts

You may accidentally imports multiple accounts from your bank (like personal savings or secondary credit cards) that you may not want in your business cash flow views. We give you the option to exclude the transactions from those accounts from our Cash Flow Tools data set by doing the below.

  1. Select Exclude Accounts from the three-dot menu.

  2. In the "Exclude Plaid Accounts" pop-up, locate the account you wish to hide.

  3. Click the Exclude button next to that account.

  4. If you change your mind, you can click Include to bring it back.

  5. Click Sync Now to Finish. This will immediately update your cash flow visualizations and remove the excluded data.

You also have the ability to Filter out bank accounts in the Cash Flow Dashboard when viewing actuals but you are unable to create a forecast with the filtered accounts. If you are attempting to forecast based on only a few accounts you should opt for this option.

Note: We automatically exclude credit card transactions from our Cash Flow Calculations if integrated with our platform. Therefore you do not need to exclude these accounts.

Troubleshooting Sync Issues

If your bank connection status shows Expired or Failed:

  • Check Connection Health: Look for the "Healthy" or "Expired" indicators in the Connection column.

  • Re-authenticate: If expired, use the Link Again option to securely re-verify your bank credentials through Plaid.

  • Monitor Progress: A purple status bar will appear at the top of the screen whenever a sync is in progress, showing you the real-time status of your data import.
