Registering your nanny with Ofsted can be a lengthy and costly process, but may be an option for some families. Ofsted registration is not something Koru Kids can manage or arrange - it's a process your nanny would need to pursue independently, though we’re happy to advise. The information below is intended as a starting point - always check the latest guidance before proceeding.
What does Ofsted registration involve?
To register with Ofsted, your nanny will need to meet several requirements before they can submit an application. Registration costs £103, and must be renewed each year. There may also be further costs for any additional training or checks your nanny might need - the cost can easily be more than £250. Registration isn’t transferable between nannies, and must be renewed annually.
You can find the latest guidance on what’s required for registration with Ofsted on the gov.uk website.
Please note that while we can advise on registration, we can’t manage or arrange it on your or your nanny’s behalf.
Important to know
Ofsted registration is a big step, and not every nanny will be willing or able to meet the requirements. There's also no guarantee that registration will be achievable within your timeframe, which may affect how you can use any funding.
You will be liable for any childcare costs incurred before registration is completed - we can’t delay charges until registration is complete.
We'd strongly recommend discussing registration with any prospective nanny, to ensure they understand what is involved, and to agree who will cover the costs of registration. You should do this before a job offer is made, rather than after.
If you're considering asking your nanny to register with Ofsted, please contact us first so we can advise on next steps and make sure you have all the information you need.
