If you hire a nanny through Koru Kids, you may want to register them with Ofsted to make use of government funding. Here's what you need to know about the process. Note, you’ll need to arrange the registration directly with your nanny.
Costs & Process
Ofsted registration costs £103. Processing can take up to 12 weeks. Koru Kids does not take responsibility for the registration process or fees. Be aware that registration is non-transferable and must be renewed annually.
Make sure you and your nanny discuss who will cover these costs before proceeding.
Steps to register:
Enhanced DBS Check with Barred Lists
Your nanny must have an enhanced DBS with barred lists, issued within the past year. Koru Kids completes this check for free once a nanny accepts a job offer, usually taking 2 weeks.First Aid Training
Your nanny will need paediatric first aid training. We recommend Tigerlily Training. You can book through their website, or contact them by phone (0300 3020 999) or email (training@tigerlilytraining.co.uk), mentioning Koru Kids. This training is linked to your nanny's Koru Kids account, allowing us to track completion and access certificates.Childcare Training
Nannies must complete a Level 2 course, such as the Common Core Skills and Knowledge course, available online from Training for Nannies (£80). The course meets Ofsted requirements and includes a multiple-choice test.Public Liability Insurance
Koru Kids provides this for all nannies, at no extra cost to you.Certificate of Good Character
If your nanny has lived abroad in the last 5 years, they will need this from the relevant embassy.
Once completed
Once your nanny has completed all the above steps, they can begin filling out the gov.uk application form to become Ofsted registered.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us as we'd be happy to help.
