There are a number of reasons why a nanny arrangement may come to an end. This decision may be initiated either by you or by your nanny. Below are the steps you should follow to ensure the process is handled smoothly, professionally, and in line with your contractual obligations.
If You Are Ending the Arrangement
1. Speak With Your Nanny First
The first and most important step is to have a direct conversation with your nanny to inform them of your decision.
You should provide contractual notice at this stage. In most arrangements:
During the first two weeks, notice is typically 24 hours.
After this initial period, notice is usually two weeks.
However, notice periods can vary, so you should always check your contract to confirm the correct terms.
You may choose to:
Ask your nanny to work their notice period, or
Provide payment in lieu of notice (paying them for the notice period without requiring them to work).
For additional employment guidance, you may find it helpful to review resources provided by ACAS.
2. Notify Our Team
Once you have spoken with your nanny, please inform us by completing the relevant end-of-arrangement form.
After receiving your form:
Our team will begin the process of closing the arrangement.
We will contact you by email to explain how your final invoice will be calculated and finalised.
If Your Nanny Ends the Arrangement
We’re sorry to hear that your nanny can no longer continue working with your family.
As an immediate next step, please complete the end-of-arrangement form so that we have all the details needed to wrap up your contract. The form should only take a few minutes to complete and will help ensure we have the information required to support you with the next steps.
Once submitted, our team will review the information and contact you to guide you through closing the arrangement and any final account matters.
