How can I maximise my chances of finding a nanny?

Finding the right nanny for your family is an important decision, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. While we’re constantly recruiting new nannies to meet demand, it’s important to note that the more specific your requirements, the narrower your pool of potential nannies will be. However, there are a few things you can do to maximise your chances:

Be Flexible with Your Requirements

The more flexible you can be, the more options you’ll have to choose from. Certain criteria can significantly narrow your pool of available nannies:

  • 5 Days of Care per Week
Many of our nannies are available 5 days a week, but these roles tend to fill up quickly. We know it may not be possible but if you were able to consider a nanny who could cover 3-4 days a week then you’d likely have many more nannies available to choose from.

  • Drivers (With or Without Their Own Car)
Most of our nannies don’t drive, particularly in cities like London, but they are confident using public transport. If a driving nanny isn’t essential, consider this as an option to expand your search.

  • Morning Care or Split Shifts
Most of our nannies are available for single shifts, such as after-school care, so finding someone for both morning and afternoon can be more challenging. If split shifts are essential, hiring two nannies might be a solution.

  • Specific Language Preferences
While we have many international nannies, finding someone in your area who speaks a specific language and meets other requirements can take time. If it’s a bonus rather than a necessity, remove it from your search filters so we can display more profiles for you.

We completely understand that it may not be possible to be flexible on any of these things. But if you are able to change any of the above, try loosening your search criteria accordingly to open up your search. It should really help your chances of finding a great nanny.

You can update your search requirements at any time via your Koru Kids dashboard (by clicking the icon in the top right).

Provide a Detailed Job Description

A detailed job description is incredibly helpful for nannies. It gives them a clear picture of your expectations and allows them to decide if the role is a good fit. This reduces the likelihood of unsuccessful interviews and helps you connect with the right candidates faster.

Use the Koru Kids Platform for All Bookings

Book interviews and trials through the Koru Kids platform. This ensures:

  • Both you and the nanny receive reminders.

  • We can track and address any issues quickly.

  • You receive the support you need during the recruitment process.

Finding the right fit might take some time

Remember, on average, families often have 5–6 interviews and 2–3 trials with different nannies before finding the right fit. It’s a normal part of the process, so don’t worry if it takes a little time!
