The care has to take place in one or both families’ homes. There are no set rules around which home the care should take place in and it differs between each share. It’s best to have a conversation with the other family to decide what works best for you.

In some shares, the care always takes place in one family’s home. In these cases the family that aren’t hosting will usually contribute towards food expenses and any materials the nanny may need to play with the children.

For other shares, the care is split between both families’ homes.

However you decide to do it, it’s important to let your nanny know well in advance where you would like them to look after the kids each week.
