Q&As

How do I book my pre-assessment lesson?

You will be prompted to book your pre-assessment lesson via push notifications, emails, and / or texts when you have completed all of the training, your safeguarding policy, and reviewed and signed your contract.

What happens during the zoom lesson?

The session will last about 1 hour, and will be a group video meeting where our coaches will discuss what to expect during your Assessment Visit. Please make sure that your camera is on, and you have some quiet focus time when you attend.

The coaches will ask questions about your training modules, and you will have the opportunity, as a group, to discuss your answers. They will also discuss possible questions you may be asked during the visit, what documents you will need to have ready, and also answer any questions that you may have.

Who will I be speaking to?

Your pre-assessment zoom lesson is with a member of the childcare quality team.

These team members have worked in early years themselves for a number of years and have worked as both practitioners and in management roles. They know what it’s like to be assessed, they understand how you feel and they are here to support you and help you be your best!

I’ve just finished my training—how long should I wait before I book my lesson?

After you’ve completed the “Reflect on your knowledge” course and you feel confident in your knowledge, we recommend you book your pre-assessment lesson with us as soon as you can. This way, the training is still fresh in your mind when you talk to us and we can help you prepare for your assessment visit.

How can I prepare in advance for this lesson?

  • Make sure you can meet the learning objectives of the 3 pre-assessment courses

  • Plan an activity for a 1 year old and an activity for a 4 year old, and link them to the 7 areas of learning

We recommend you join the Facebook community—you'll find training, advice and activity planning. Feel free to post any questions in there too. The Facebook community for Early Educators are at all stages of the process, as well as Koru Kids team members, all of whom are happy to help.

What will happen after the lesson?

After the lesson, you will be sent a 24 question quiz to test your knowledge. You need to complete it within 2 weeks of the lesson (but obviously do it as soon as you can!). You will need to pass this to be invited to your assessment visit so take care with your answers. If you don't pass the quiz you will be invited to retake some training, and repeat the quiz a little later.

What if I need more support after I’m booked in for my visit?

The childcare quality coaches are available to support you throughout your journey. Reply to any email, text, or WhatsApp from us to let us know you'd like to speak to a childcare quality coach and get more support ahead of your visit, and we'll make sure to get back in touch with you and help.

Your pre-assessment lesson is there to help you feel ready and prepared for your assessment visit. Our childcare quality coaches are here to support you!
