This help centre article was written for the Koru Kids' Home Nursery service

Childcare.co.uk is many parents’ first stop when researching childcare in their area – so having a profile on there is critical. Our Early Educators who use childcare.co.uk fill their spaces the fastest.

It's important to sign up for childcare.co.uk early on in your registration process. This is because it takes time to fill all your spaces (not all families are looking for care for 5 days a week, so it's likely you need to find several families), and we know you want to get working (and earning a good salary) as soon as you're registered.

If you’re not yet registered, you should make it clear that you're training to become a childminder (i.e you're not yet registered) and give an estimation of when your home nursery will open (roughly 2-4 months but this is an estimate).

Setting up on childcare.co.uk

To sign up, visit www.childcare.co.uk/register

  1. On the sign up form, click ‘I am a service provider’

  2. On Services Offered, tick Childminder and use CA000045 as your Ofsted number.

  3. For the tick boxes, select:

  • Childminding Agency Registered (don’t select ‘Ofsted Registered’)

  • Key worker childcare

  • Tax Free Childcare

And any others that are relevant to you. e.g Covid-19 Vaccinated, Special Needs Experience etc. If you are planning to offer before and/or after school care, select 'School Pickups'.

Once you are registered you will need to update your profile and upload your registration certificate.

You will need to update your profile and upload your First Aid Training certificate after it has been completed. You will also need to update your profile and upload your DBS check after it has been completed. We run your DBS check after you pass your registration visit.

Important: Do not mention Koru Kids on your Childcare.co.uk profile - as a business, we cannot advertise our services on the site, but as a self-employed childminder, you can.

Making your profile

  1. Make sure your profile is up to date with a bit about you, your past experience, your childminder training, and the days and hours you’re available. If you're planning to offer before and/or after school care or holiday care, make sure you mention this and the schools that you'll service (choose ones within walking distance).

  2. Include a friendly headshot on your profile

  3. Add your email address and phone number so parents can contact you.

Here’s an example of what to write on your profile to sell your services, in case you're stuck:

I am training to become a childminder via an Ofsted-registered childminder agency. I’m aiming for my home nursery to open in 2-4 months. At my home nursery in Islington, I care for children aged 6 months to 5 years. I also offer before/after school care and holiday care. I look after a maximum of 3 children under the age of 5 during the day, and I'm passionate about child-led play and outdoor learning (I'm even Forest Education trained!). I have a wealth of experience looking after children as I've worked in childcare for X years/I'm a parent myself. I have X childcare qualification [if applicable] and I’m training in the EYFS curriculum, safe sleep and more. I’d love to hear from you if you’re looking for childcare, so please do message or ring me to learn more.

Reminder: As you are not yet registered, you need to make it clear that you're training to become a childminder (i.e you're not yet registered) and give an estimation of when your home nursery will open.

Top tip: Log in and make some small changes to your profile on a regular basis and you'll appear higher up in search results!

Uploading documents:

Once you've completed your training and registration, upload your certificates and documents to prove that you’re an agency-registered childminder and have completed the checks and training you have ticked.

Upload evidence for any boxes that you have ticked (e.g DBS checked). Otherwise, they have a red warning icon by it on your profile. It is up to you what documents you are comfortable uploading, but we’d recommend your registration certificate and DBS certificate as a minimum. No document will be shown publicly but you can give parents access to view it if they request to see it.
