Before your assessment visit from our friendly assessors, you are required to sign our standard childminder contractor agreement in order to progress with your registration. This forms part of your legal contractual relationship with us.
Can I set my own working hours and days?
Whilst you are free to choose your working times, we strongly recommend you work for at least 4 days a week and open 8am-6pm in order to match what families are looking for.
You may find families request earlier starts or later finishes to accommodate their work. We suggest you are as flexible as possible to help you secure the family’s business.
You can read our advice on choosing your opening hours here.
What do Koru Kids commit to as part of the contract?
We’ll provide you with (and pay for) all the training and support you need to become an outstanding early educator.
Once you’ve qualified, we’ll help find you families to fill your spaces. We’ll then take care of all of the billing and as much of the paperwork as we possibly can - leaving you to focus on the children!
When the time comes to expand your business, we’ll help you set up your assistant - we’ll train them up for you so there’s the least amount of paperwork involved for you.
And of course, our friendly and knowledgeable team are always available to answer any questions you may have - both during your training and once you’ve qualified.
What do I commit to as part of the contract?
Our fees
To fund the costs of your training and our ongoing service, we deduct 10% of your parents’ fees each month.
Leaving Koru Kids
If you decide to leave Koru Kids and re-register as a childminder with either Ofsted or another Childminder Agency within 3 years of completing your training, you have to give us 8 weeks' notice and you agree to reimburse us £3,000 for our training costs. This also applies if you have not successfully passed your pre-registration visit. We might decide to extend this notice period at our discretion to up to 4 months in order to enable you to finalise your registration with OFSTED or another childminder agency.
However, if you decide to stop becoming a childminder, you can do this whenever you like with 8 week’s notice. If you decide to stop working as a childminder, if you can't continue your training with us, or if you don't manage to complete registration, you will not have to reimburse us for the £3000.
This Agreement can be terminated with immediate effect if you commits a serious breach of any term of the Agreement.
Pausing your Agreement
You can pause your Agreement for up to 6 months. If you pause it for longer, you will be required to pay us a fee of £100 each year to cover their yearly inspection until you unpause.
In the event that you are not providing Childcare Services to any Families for more than 6 months, this will be viewed as an undeclared pause, and you will be required to pay us a fee of £100 each year to cover the yearly inspection until you unpause.
Intellectual property
All intellectual property created by you during your work for Koru Kids belongs to Koru Kids.
We have tried to make it as clear as possible, but if you have any other questions, please let us know!
