File an International Claim

How do I file a claim for medical care received outside the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands?

These claims are filed based on the type of care and place of service:

  • Care on a cruise ship - These are not considered international claims. File a Claim to Louisiana Blue for services received on a cruise ship.
    ​

  • Inpatient care at a participating BCBS Global Core hospital- The hospital will file the claim for you.
    ​

  • Care at a doctor’s office or non-participating hospital- You will need to pay the provider up front and then follow these steps to file a claim:
    ​

    • Obtain the following from provider:

      • Itemized bill of services

      • Receipt of payment for services

      • Medical records, if available

    • Submit an international claim form online, on the mobile app, or by mail:


      ​Online

      1. Go to www.bcbsglobalcore.com and create an account.

      2. On the home page, click Login. The Login page displays.

      3. Enter your username and password and click Login. The Claims page displays.

      4. Submit the BCBS Global Core International Claim Form online via one of the following methods:

      • eClaim

        1. Next to "Submit a new eClaim" using the online wizard, click Get Started.

        2. Follow the instructions provided.

      • Upload Online

        1. Under Download a Blank Claim Form, click Available Claim Forms. The Downloads page displays.

        2. Click appropriate International Claim Form.

        3. Complete claim form.

        4. Next to "Upload your claim form," click Upload Your Claim.

        5. Follow instructions provided.

      • Email

        1. Under Download a Blank Claim Form, click Available Claim Forms. The Downloads page displays.

        2. Click appropriate International Claim Form.

        3. Complete claim form.

        4. Email completed claim form, itemized bill, receipt of payment, and any medical records to BCBS Global Core Program at claims@bcbsglobalcore.com.

      Mobile app

      1. Download the BCBS Global Core app and create an account.

      2. On the home page, click Login. The Login page displays.

      3. Enter your username and password and click Login. The My Location page displays.

      4. Select the international location where services were received. The Home page displays with the location at top.

      5. Click eClaims. The eClaims page displays.

      6. Click New eClaim.

      7. Click your desired method to submit a claim, either Complete the Form in the App or Photograph Your Paper Form.

      8. Follow the instructions provided.​


      ​Mail

      1. Go to www.bcbsglobalcore.com and create an account.

      2. On the home page, click Login. The Login page displays.

      3. Enter your username and password and click Login. The Claims page displays.

      4. Under "Download a Blank Claim Form," click Available Claim Forms. The Downloads page displays.

      5. Click the appropriate International Claim Form.

      6. Complete and print the claim form.

      7. Mail completed claim form, itemized bill, receipt of payment, and any medical records to:
