As a teacher, you can customize each student's interface to fit their individual needs. You can also ensure the content functions well in classroom environments with equipment or resources that may not be fully compatible with the default Lalilo format.

Accessing these accessibility student settings

  • click on your class

  • on the left menu, click on Settings > Students

Clicking on “Manage options” will open a side panel where you can customize accessibility settings for individual students:

Customizable Options

  • Read Aloud Activity

Turn this option off to ensure the student does not participate in reading aloud exercises. (If they don't have a microphone, reading aloud exercises will automatically be de-activated during their ongoing session.)

  • Animations

Turn this option off to disable all non-essential animations in the student's interface.

  • Captions (coming soon!)

Turn this option on to enable captions for all instructions or oral content said by the voice over in the student interface.

  • Time-Limited Exercises

Turn this option off to prevent the student from receiving exercises with time limits. This applies to some discrimination exercises and some phonology exercises. Note that these exercises are not skipped, but are given to students with unlimited time to read the “target” before selecting their answer.

Example of an exercise with and without the time limit:

Accessibility Features

  • Zoom and Reflow Support

The student interface supports the WCAG 2.1 Zoom 400% standard (Reflow), making it fully functional on mobile devices.

  • Keyboard Navigation

The interface is fully navigable using a keyboard.

  • Screen Reader Compatibility

The interface is currently being optimized for screen readers: alternative text is being added to all images, and specific messages are being added to guide users with screen readers through exercises.
