Extra practice on validated lessons

Lessons will be automatically reviewed by students a few days or weeks after they have validated them, according to a review schedule set up by our Pedagogical team.

Students

Students will automatically be presented with reviewed exercices, which will be inserted in between their usual lessons. They will not see any difference between a reviewed exercise and an exercise coming from a new lesson.

Teachers

As a teacher, you will not need to do anything for the reviewed exercises to start.

You will see a letter "R" on the lessons that have already been reviewed by your students.

Reviewed exercises will not exceed 20% of the time spent by students on Lalilo. If too many reviewed lessons are waiting, the oldest ones will be skipped to make sure students also get the opportunity to learn new skills.

The lessons that are manually assigned will have priority on the automatically reviewed lessons. However, when a lesson is assigned, the students will always complete the series of exercices they have been working on before seeing the assigned lesson.

Example of lesson Sight Word "day"

Let's have a look at the sight word "day". The corresponding lesson is divided into five parts, and one of these parts (#4) will be reviewed after 14 days.

  • If students do not log in on day 14, or 15, etc, they will see the reviewed exercises the next time they log in to Lalilo.

  • If they struggle with the reviewed exercises, they will see a remediation activity to help them consolidate the skill.

  • For other lessons, it can be more than one part, and more or less then 14 days.

Here's how the lesson is organized:

  1. Discovery: a short animation to introduce the spelling and pronunciation of "day".

  2. Recognition: the word "day" is displayed for a few seconds, and then the student needs to find it among a short list of words (eg: "day", "do", "I").

  3. Decoding: the word "day" is spoken, and the student needs to find it among a short list of words (eg: "day", "go", "come").

  4. πŸ” Complete a sentence: the student hears "One day I will be a dancer", and sees "One ... I will be a dancer". They have to find the missing word among, for example, "day", "like" and "so". This 4th part will be reviewed after 14 days.

  5. Encoding: the student hears "day", and needs to build it by picking letters among a list (eg: a, i, d, s, g, y).

What happens to a validated lesson if the student fails the review? Is it still validated, and does the tile stay green?

Even if the student did not succeed at the review, the lesson stays validated (green tile) and shows an R instead of the checkmark. (One thing worthy of note is that the success rate of reviews is almost 100%, so failing at the review is very rare.)

To see your student's success at the review, you can click on the tile to show the Answer Report.

Failing a review activity will trigger a remediation activity to help the student grasp the concept back.
