Color profiles, or ICC profiles, are what enable the colors in your digital file to translate accurately to print, especially when using high-quality papers.

This guide will walk you through the steps of using color profiles for your artwork to ensure the printed colors match your original vision when uploading to Lama.co.

Steps for downloading color profiles (ICC)

Using the ICC profile tailored for the specific paper you’ve chosen can enhance color accuracy. Here’s how to utilize these profiles:

1- Download the ICC Profile for your selected Lama paper from the options provided at the end of this article

2- Install the ICC Profile on your system.

  • Installation ICC profiles using Mac OS:

  1. Double-click on the downloaded Zip file. The ICC Profile will be extracted in the same folder automatically.

  2. Move the extracted ICC Profile to the proper folder listed below.

Mac OS 8-9x - System Folder > Color Sync Folder

    Mac OS X – [Go to] > [Computer] > [Macintosh HD] > [Library] > [ColorSync] > [Profiles]

  • Installation ICC profiles using Windows:

  1. Extract the downloaded Zip file by right clicking the zip folder and selecting “extract all”.

  2. Right-click on the unpacked ICC Profile and select "Install Profile". The installation will only take a few seconds. You can also install your profile manually by moving it to the proper folder listed below.

    Windows 95, 98 - C:/windows/system/color

3- Restart your graphics application (e.g. Photoshop) if it was open during the profile installation.

    • For Conversion Options:

      • for engine select Adobe ACE

      • for Intent select Relative Colorimetric or Perceptual

      • Check Black Point Compensation

      • Check Use Dither

      • If the image is layered select Flatten Image, if it is already flat this option will be greyed-out

  3. Save as the file to embed the profile (important: do not overwrite the master file – save under a separate filename that describes the print profile embedded).
