How to Order a Title Search in NSW

Learn three ways to purchase a Title Search for NSW properties on Landchecker.

A Title Search is a legal record that provides information about who the current owners are of a property, and also reveals if there are any restrictions or interests registered on the land. You can purchase Title Searches through LandChecker in three ways.


Method 1: Using the Map

This is the quickest way to order a Title Search when you know the property address.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Use the search bar in the top left corner of the Map to enter the address and find your property

  2. Click the Documents tab in the right-hand information panel

  3. Enter a Job Reference

  4. Select the checkbox next to Title Search

  5. Click +Add selected items to shopping cart

  6. Click the shopping cart icon in the navigation bar

  7. Select View Cart or Purchase

  8. Click Go To Checkout

  9. Review your delivery and payment methods

  10. Click Buy to complete your purchase


Method 2: Using Document Searches - Title Search

Use this method when you want to search by address, lot/plan, or title reference.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Click Document Searches in the navigation bar, which will open up to the Title Search option

  2. Enter a Job Reference

  3. Choose NSW as your state, then click Next

  4. Select how you want to search:

    • Address - search by street address

    • Lot/Plan - search by lot and plan number

    • Title Reference - search by title reference number

  5. Enter your search details and click Search

  6. Select the checkbox next to Title Search

  7. Click +Add selected items to shopping cart

  8. Click the shopping cart icon in the navigation bar

  9. Select View Cart or Purchase

  10. Click Go To Checkout

  11. Review your delivery and payment methods

  12. Click Buy to complete your purchase


Method 3: Using Document Searches - Standard Searches

Use this method when you already know the exact title reference number.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Click Document Searches in the navigation bar

  2. Select the Standard Searches tab

  3. Choose NSW as your state, then click Next

  4. Click Title Search to expand the textbox

  5. Enter the Title Reference (format example: 6/75437 or 27/19283)

  6. Enter a Job Reference

  7. Click +Add to Cart

  8. Click the shopping cart icon in the navigation bar

  9. Select View Cart or Purchase

  10. Click Go To Checkout

  11. Review your delivery and payment methods

  12. Click Buy to complete your purchase


What You Need to Know

Title Reference format: NSW title references refers to either a lot/(section)/plan or a volume-folio number. (e.g. 6/75437 or 200/1265623).

Job Reference: This is an optional field where you can add your own matter reference number to help track and organise your document purchases.

Delivery: Documents will be emailed to you on fulfilment, which is within just a couple of minutes for NSW Title Searches. You can update your preferred delivery method at checkout.
