What is a company tree?

The company tree is a comprehensive way for you to determine the companies owned by an ultimate owner. This can be particularly useful to find all the properties owned by distressed sellers. This feature is exclusive for our Unlimited Plan users, click here to access this feature.

How to generate a company tree:

Step 1: Select the Ownership Layer.

Step 2: Open the search bar on the left and type in the name of the company for which you want the company tree.

Step 3: In the results, spot the company you want and click on the company tree icon beside it.

Step 4: Press the arrows pointing sideways to expand the company tree to reveal child companies.

That's it!  You have a comprehensive company tree at your disposal.

Tip: Click the search icon (magnifying glass) next to any company's name and that will trigger a search for properties owned by that company. (The search is limited to the area exposed in the map, zoom out for a wider search.)

Note: The search for properties is limited to the area visible in the map. Zoom out cover more area in the search

Questions you may have:

What do the numbers in brackets mean?

Against each company name, you will see two numbers in brackets. The number on the left is the number of titles registered against that company directly, while the number on the right also includes titles registered against any child companies (subsidiaries).

The numbers represent the titles held nationwide, not just within the search area shown on the map. Please note the number on the right does not take into consideration any parent ownership if there is any. It's just the company on that level of the tree and below.

Where does the company tree come from?

The raw data comes from the Companies House Database. We have developed algorithms that make that data usable in the form of a company tree with ownership information. For more information on where we get our data Ultimate Owner, click here.

What is an Ultimate Owner?
In situations where there are complex structures of ownership (child and parent companies), the Ultimate Owner feature enables you to identify who has significant control of a site. Click here to read our comprehensive article on how the Ultimate Owner feature works.
