Landlord Law is a big site and we have a lot of content.  Inevitably people sometimes find it hard to locate things that they want.

Here are some of the ways you can find things:

Use the A-Z index

This is a list of terms and topics with links to content. Note that this does not yet include all the site content but by using the index you should find most things.

Use the Checklists

These are guides to dealing with your property at various stages of the tenancy. There are five:

  • The property checklist

  • The new tenant checklist

  • The new tenancy checklist

  • The tenancy management checklist, and

  • The end of tenancy and renewals checklist

There are now separate versions for England and Wales.

The checklists are not just lists, they are lists of short summaries of things you need to do at those stages and link out to other content on the site. It is a very good way of finding content for where you are in your tenancy journey just now.

You will find all the English checklists linked from here. The Welsh checklists can be found via the Wales page. Both checklists are also available via the Members Dashboard.

Use the topics pages

We have (more or less) divided the Landlord Law content into topics - you will find a list of the topics here.  You can also find the topics via the dropdown menu found if you hover your mouse over the word 'Topics' on the site header.

So

Despite trying it was not possible to fit everything into the ten topics plus some subjects straddled several topics.  So we have some 'additional information pages' which are also linked from the main topics page.

Note that for Welsh content you should always go to the Wales page, although much of the information available via the topics will also be relevant to properties in Wales.

Using the content types menu

Find this by hovering your mouse over the words 'Content Types' on the site header.  You will then see a list of the different content types on Landlord Law.

This is fairly self-explanatory.   So

  • If you want to find a fairly focused answer to a specific issue - take a look at the FAQ

  • If you want to read something a bit more 'in depth' see our articles

  • If you enjoy watching people explain things - take a look at the videos.  We have a lot of recordings of our training webinars going back several years and videos of past Conference talks.

If you want to create a document - all of these are linked from the Documents and Forms page.  NB You can find out more about creating documents from the video on that page and also from our documents help articles.

Via the Search Box

This is not perfect but if you use the correct search term you should be able to locate most of the site content with that term.

Don't forget to bookmark

Once you have found some content - if you think you are going to need it again, bookmark it.  See our help page here.

Information for Welsh Landlords

The law in Wales changed on 1 December 2022 (with the introduction of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016) so if your rented property is in Wales, you should always start your search for information from the Wales page.

However, the Act did not change all the law in Wales, and you can also find a lot of help via the general site content. Where the rules in England and Wales are different, the Welsh content will be 'flagged up' by the Welsh flag.
