I need a recommendation on a safety glasses that protect for laser light for an instrument with Maximum permissible exposure of 1.48mW/cm2 and with an optical density greater than 3. The equipment emits 250-mW beam at 785nm.

Always consult your on-site Laser Safety Officer (LSO) for specific guidance. Required optical density (OD) and laser safety personal protective equipment (PPE) are determined based on worst-case scenarios and require professional judgment. All laser safety equipment provided is intended for diffused beam viewing only.

Our 145 filter provides the needed optical density at that range (OD5+ between 715nm-810mn). Please see here.

For eye wear that will fit-over prescription glasses I suggest our 10-frame fit-over or our 35-frame spectacle (100-10-145 and 100-35-145 respectively). For a closer fit to the face I suggest the 38 frame (100-38-145).
