At Lassie, there is no age limit for insuring your pet.

Below, you’ll find useful information to consider when subscribing to insurance or changing insurance for older pets.

​Does the reimbursement amount change with age?
​

To always charge an appropriate premium according to your pet's age, the insurance premium for your pet increases as they get older. If you pay your premium annually, we will adjust the next annual premium accordingly when renewing the insurance contract. If you have agreed to a monthly payment plan, we will adjust your premium in the first month following the renewal of the insurance contract.

​Do you cover issues my pet has had in the past?
​

When insuring an older pet, it’s important to know what applies to illnesses and injuries your pet may have had in the past.

We do not cover costs related to pre-existing conditions (for example, any condition for which your pet has been treated, cared for, examined, or exhibited symptoms in the past 24 months).

If your pet has an allergy or chronic illness before subscribing to insurance, it will not be covered by Lassie.

​What about the waiting period?


At Lassie, the waiting periods start on the first day of the initial insurance period and are as follows:

  • For preventive care (under the optional preventive budget detailed in section 4.4.): 0 days.

  • For accidents: 48 hours.

  • For illnesses: 30 days.

  • For cruciate ligament rupture: 120 days.

  • For surgery following an illness: 120 days.
