Note: Instagram has recently released a new version of their API (Application Program Interface) that allows for automatic posting, with some restrictions; Later is working around the clock to implement this as our top priority.
Instagram is different from most other social networks because it doesn’t allow other apps to automatically post for you. In order to actually post to Instagram, you need to have access to a mobile phone or tablet with the Instagram app.
Any app that says they automatically post to Instagram for you is violating Instagram’s terms of service, so use them at your own risk!
As Instagram requires us to post everything through the Instagram app, we cannot post directly from Later on the web. Therefore you need to download the Later mobile app so we can link your mobile app to your desktop account. Once you download the Later mobile app, here is how posting to Instagram works with Later.
Step 1: Schedule your post on the web or in the mobile app
You can save a ton of time by scheduling your posts on the web.
Step 2: At the time of posting, we send you a mobile notification to your phone
All you have to do is open the notification and Later automatically sends your scheduled photo to Instagram, and automatically copies your pre-written caption. Just hit “paste” in the caption field and you’re all set to post to Instagram!
Step 3: Paste your caption and post!
Once your post is open in Instagram, you can edit your photo or apply a filter. You will need to paste your caption in the caption field of Instagram, you can do this by long tapping in the caption area!
