PAX S300 PINpad Installation

The following shows the PAX S300 PINpad and wiring harness.

This is what will be included in the S300 PINpad terminal kit.

Only the RED Ethernet port and the PINpad's power cable are used when connecting these terminals to our system (your S300 will NOT come with a touch-pen attachment):

Ethernet Cable Connection:

The S300's ethernet port will be a RED colored connector, on the PINpad terminal's harness. You ONLY need to connect this ONE connection to the VAC's main control board:

On the VAC Control board, you will find a short blue ethernet cable preinstalled in it's AUX1 ethernet port (this is the only ethernet port that can be used for PINpad terminal communication)

Use this short blue ethernet cable to connect the PINpad terminal's RED Ethernet port to the VAC control board's AUX Port:

Power Cable Connection:

Below is a photo of where the DC Power Jack connects to the PINpad terminal's harness.

The other end of the power jack can be plugged into the power bar that provides power to all VAC components:

With our system, only the ethernet cable is used for communication between the PINpad terminal and the VAC kiosk, so ONLY the ethernet cable and the PINpad's POWER cable are used.

Configuring the PINpad terminal's Static IP Address Settings

In order for S300 PINpad terminals to communicate with the VAC kiosks, they need to be using specific Static IP Address settings for the VAC to be able to detect the terminal.

Please download and follow the instructions listed in our Configuring Static IP Addresses on the PAX S300 article

Check PINpad terminal is receiving power:

With both Power and Ethernet connected, check the PINpad terminal's screen to make sure it's receiving power.

If the screen is not powered ON, check to make sure power jack is fully plugged into the S300's wiring harness, as the PINpad terminal should power ON immediately once it's connected to power.

You should also check the back of the PINpad terminal itself to ensure the PINpad's wiring harness is fully connected to the connector on the back of the terminal:

Mounting to the VAC:

After the PINpad has been connected to the VAC, install the security screw into the PINpad terminal (RED circle pictured below)

The PINpad terminal's mounting bracket (bracket that comes with your VAC) can be removed by loosening the 4 nuts from the inside of the of the VAC (RED squares shown in picture above):

Once connected, tie up all the loose/unused cables to keep them out of the way.

Checking PINpad terminal operation:

Once the PINpad is powered ON, wait until it's finished booting up.

Once finished, the PINpad's display should land on the following home screen:

If your PINpad's display does not look like the one above, and instead you're seeing a screen that says "BROADPOS - WELCOME! PRESS MENU KEY"

The PINpad terminal has not yet downloaded it's payment software:

Usually power cycling the PINpad terminal (while the VAC remains powered ON) will trigger the terminal to download it's payment software.

For more information on this issue, review the Activating the PAX S300 section of our Activating the PINpad payment terminal (US customers) article.

Once the PINpad terminal is displaying the correct home/idle screen, to figure out if the PINpad terminal is ready to be tested, check the Payment Status light on the VAC control board:

When the PINpad terminal is first connected to the VAC, this Payment Status light will be RED like in the above picture, and you will see the following error in the VAC status on the LaundroPortal:

Once the PINpad has been powered ON, and is correctly running it's Payment software, the VAC's Payment Status light will turn GREEN, and the error in the VAC status will clear, once the VAC software syncs with the PINpad terminal's Payment software.

It can take up to 10 minutes before the Payment Status light turns GREEN, so simply leave everything connected for 10 mins.

Once the Payment Status light turns GREEN, the PINpad terminal is ready to be tested.

If the Payment Status light is still RED, after waiting for 10 mins and you've confirmed the PINpad is connected to the VAC correctly, and it's displaying the correct "Payment Logistics" screen, get in touch with our support team.

PCI Compliance

The VAC provides its own isolated network (with a firewall) at the AUX1 ethernet port the PINpad terminal connects, so no network scans are required to stay PCI Compliant
