The Director ID is a unique number that is used to verify the identity of a person who is appointed a company director.
You will have to apply for your Director ID via the ABRS website. This is a free application, and you will only need to apply for the director ID once in your life.
ie, if you have an ID from a previous company, you do not need a different one.
Please note, you need to apply for your Director ID before you're appointed as a director.

If you are having issues with applying through MyGovID, you can call 13 62 50 (in Australia) or +61 2 6216 3440 (if outside Australia) and provide:
Your tax file number (TFN) (optional)
Your residential address as held by the ATO
answers to 2 questions based on details we know about you
This process is not handled by Lawpath, you will need to get further support and advice from the ABRS.
Adding your Director ID on the Lawpath platform
You can keep a record of your Director ID stored with your company documents, so it's on hand if you ever need it for auditing purposes.
To add it to your company information in your Lawpath account:
Head to Registrations > (your company name)
Scroll down to Company Cap Table > View cap table
Scroll down to Officeholders > Add/edit Director ID
