Importance of Pre-Testing

Before deploying any of the methods described below, it is crucial to test these scenarios in advance. Testing ensures that the Activations games are displayed correctly and function as expected on the touchscreen monitor. By identifying and resolving any issues beforehand, you can guarantee a smooth and seamless interactive experience during your event or activation.

1. Using a URL Directly on the Monitor

Smart Monitors with Built-In Operating Systems

If your touchscreen monitor has a built-in operating system, such as Android, you can install applications directly onto the monitor. Follow these steps:

  1. Check for App Support: Ensure your monitor supports app installation.

  2. Install a Web Browser: Install a web browser, such as Google Chrome, from the app store available on the monitor.

  3. Open the URL: Use the web browser to navigate to the engagement game's URL.

2. Connecting via HDMI

Connecting to a Laptop or Mini PC

You can connect your touchscreen monitor to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC (e.g., Intel NUC) via an HDMI cable. This setup allows you to use the monitor as a display for the computer.

  1. Connect Devices: Use an HDMI cable to connect the computer to the monitor.

  2. Enable Touch Input: If the monitor has touch capabilities, ensure the connected computer supports touch input.

  3. Open the URL: On the connected computer, open a web browser and navigate to the URL for the game.

  4. Interacting with the Monitor: If the monitor supports touch input, you can interact directly with the game on the monitor.

Connecting a Phone/Tablet a USB Type-C to an HDMI Converter

You can also mirror your screen through HDMI from your phone or tablet if it has a USB type-C socket.

Simply connect your phone to the USB type-C to HDMI Converter and connect the converter through HDMI to your TV.

Scanning QR Codes

If the game involves QR codes:

  1. Attach a Webcam: Connect a webcam to the computer.

  2. Scan the QR Code: Use the webcam to scan the QR code, which will open the URL in the web browser.

3. iPad Mirroring

If you prefer to use an iOS device, such as an iPad, you can mirror its screen to the monitor. There are two ways to achieve this, an HDMI adapter, or third-party software.

Using HDMI Adapter

Using an HDMI adapter is similar to the method used for connecting a laptop or mini PC to the monitor.

  1. Get an HDMI Adapter:

    • Purchase a Lightning to HDMI adapter (for older iPads) or a USB-C to HDMI adapter (for newer iPads with USB-C ports).

  2. Connect iPad to Monitor:

    • Connect the HDMI adapter to the iPad.

    • Connect an HDMI cable from the adapter to the touchscreen monitor.

  3. Mirror iPad Screen:

    • The iPad screen will automatically be mirrored on the monitor.

    • Open the game or URL on the iPad, and it will be displayed on the monitor.

    • Use the iPad’s touch interface to interact with the game.

4. Using Third-Party Mirroring Software

Several apps enable screen mirroring from iOS to other systems:

  1. Install a Mirroring App:

    • Choose a mirroring app like Reflector, AirServer, or Mirroring360.

    • Install the app on a computer connected to the touchscreen monitor.

  2. Connect to Wi-Fi:

    • Ensure both the iPad and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

  3. Enable Mirroring:

    • Open the mirroring app on the computer.

    • On the iPad, open the Control Center and select "Screen Mirroring."

    • Choose the computer running the mirroring app from the list.

  4. Mirror the iPad Screen:

    • The iPad screen will now be mirrored on the monitor via the computer.

    • Open the game or URL on the iPad, and it will be displayed on the monitor.

    • Use the iPad’s touch interface to interact with the game.

Recommended Third-Party Apps

5. Mirroring from an Android Device

Android devices have native support for mirroring Android smart screens. The process may look a little different depending on your device brand.

  1. Enable Screen Mirroring on Your TV

  2. On your Android device, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick settings panel and tap the ‘Screen Cast’ or ‘Smart View’ icon.

  3. Select your TV from the list.

Congratulations! You have successfully mirrored your Android screen to your TV!
