In some cases, the organizer of the show may refuse to provide an API kit due to GDPR reasons. This article addresses how you can reach out to the organizer to request for API access provided by the registration company, highlighting how this approach aligns with GDPR requirements and enhances your event participation.

Here is a template you can use:

==========================================================

Hello,

We understand and respect your policies regarding GDPR and data management.

To clarify, we are not requesting an integration with your lead retrieval app or for you to integrate external APIs. Instead, we are asking for access to an API provided by your registration company. This would enable us to use our own software to scan badges, retrieve the Badge ID, and then use that ID to obtain contact information through the registration provider’s API.

This approach adheres to GDPR requirements, as the registration provider would remain the Data Processor, and we would be the Data Controller, similar to the current setup with your app. Utilizing our software allows us to maximize the value we derive from the event, which is a crucial factor in our decision to continue exhibiting at your show.

Thank you for considering our request.
