  • The main purpose of generating a 6/8 weeks Lookahead is to manage a project's planning at a more detailed and micro level.

  • Under the Lookahead, the planning will be focused on both construction sequences (tasks) and preparation works (Constraints).

  • The size of the Lookahead (6/8 weeks) have been set during the Create Project phase.

  • A 6/8 weeks Lookahead can be generated when:

          - Masterplan has been pre-configured
          - Do List has been confirmed

Figure 1 shows Generate Lookahead after pre-configuration of Masterplan. Click on the "Generate First Lookahead" button to generate the Lookahead.

Note:

  • When the project is created, the size of Lookahead is also set. In Lean PlanDo, lookahead can be of 2 sizes:  6 weeks and 8 weeks

  • In any project, planning well ahead of time helps in better execution and management.

  • When the lookahead is generated, the current date falls in the first week.

  • Lean PlanDo enables users to plan 6-8 weeks in advance, which involves splitting activities into tasks, identifying and adding constraints and assigning responsible sub-contractors and supervisors to them.

  • Most of the constraints added to activities and tasks in the plan weeks would fall under the middle weeks as they involve prerequisite works to be completed before the activities or tasks can start. Managing these constraints will be a major part of the work carried out by project teams in Lean PlanDo.

  • If the activities and tasks are properly planned in first two weeks and their constraints are well managed in the middle weeks, they will be ready to be worked upon when they enter the first two weeks.
