A task can be edited at any point in time. With edit task we can update the task name, description, start date and end date, sequence number etc.

The following steps guide you to Edit task:

  • Double-click on  the Task bar in Lookahead and click Pencil (Edit) button

  • Edit the Task with the required details

  • Click Tick to save the changes

Another way to Edit a Committed Task is through Do List tab, by double-clicking on the task and Pencil (edit) icon option given in the task options.

However, there will be an effect if the Task Start Date is edited:

  • Task can be advanced or delayed with the Edit start date feature. Changing the start date of a task, would advance or delay the task completely.

  • Increasing or decreasing the duration of the task will result in affecting the end date of the task.

  • The effect of editing the start date or duration of a task on an activity depends on the position of the task under the activity. Possibilities are:

Deleting a Task
You can delete the task if it's not required anymore (from the Mini Widget, accessible by single clicking on the task). Keep in mind that you cannot delete a task when it is committed, or is in progress.

Note

Any task delayed beyond activity end date will extend the end date of the activity if the task is present in the Do-week of lookahead. If not, the task cannot be extended beyond the activity end date

Similar to Activity, for already started tasks that are not yet completed, its Remaining Early Start (RES) can be delayed or advanced. Project teams can use this feature to delay remaining portion of a task to next week from Do-week if some site conditions don't allow them to resume work immediately.

The end date for a Task having RES = RES date + Remaining Duration.

The process of Edit Activity is similar to Edit Task, read 3.12 Edit Activity in Masterplan to find out more.
