Task constraints can be managed in Lookahead.ย

Constraints have two menus, the Detail View and the Mini Widget. Detail View is accessed by double-clicking the constraint and the Mini Widget by single clicking.

After constraints are assigned on a task, its progress cannot be updated until all the constraints assigned on it are in Done. Therefore it is important to manage the constraints. Task constraints can be managed using the 'Edit Constraint' option in the Detail View where various features given below can be done:

  • Edit constraint description

  • Change due date

  • Update conditions' status

  • Change the assignee

  • Edit dates and status of conditions (covered in a separate article)

  • Update comments and attachments

  • Delete constraints

The following steps guide you to Edit Task Constraints:

  • Double click on the Constraint (indicated by a circle and in-lined with it's task)

  • Click the Edit (pencil) button

  • Update the constraint with required changes

  • Click Tick to save the changes

  • To delete the constraint, single click the constraint and click the Delete button.

Note

Two types of delay descriptions

When a constraint is delayed, there will be a Running Man logo to indicate that it has been delayed.
โ€‹

The first constraint has a Running Man with only the outer red lining, which indicates that the constraint has been delayed, but it did not effect the activity/task start date. There is enough float between the constraint and activity/task for the ETA.

The second constraint has a Solid Red Running Man which indicates that the delay to the constraint has affected the activity/task.

The process of managing an Activity Constraint is similar to managing a Task Constraint, read 3.19 Manage Activity Constraint to know more.
