Planning activities in the lookahead by splitting them into smaller construction sequences (tasks) can be a bit tedious if you are working on a complex plan that has many activities in the Lookahead. Using the templates in Lean PlanDo can be very helpful in such scenarios. With templates, the planned structure of an activity, defined by its tasks and constraints can be saved into a re-usable copy that can be applied to other similar activities. For example, the tasks and constraints planned out under activity "Basement slab" in Zone 1 will be more or less the same for the same activities in Zone 2 and Zone 3. Once you plan the Zone 1 activity, you can save it as a template that can be applied for same activities under Zone 2 and Zone 3, thereby helping you to save time in lookahead planning.

To create a template from an activity in the lookahead, follow the below steps:

  • Click on the activity bar to access the options menu

  • Click the Save as template as shown in the image below

Clicking on "Save as template" will open a pop-up as shown below. Enter the template name, description, select the trade and check whether to make this template public or private to your own project. Click Save to save this as a template.

To make this template public, check the Tick Box that says "Make it Public". By doing this, the template will be available to other projects in the same company that the creator of the template is in. If it is not made public, this template will only be available to this project.

Once you save the template, you can access the same from a different activity and apply the saved template on it.
