In light of the recent circuit break in Singapore, most of the construction site activities will be halted. With this, we have prepared this guide on how to adjust your plan to accommodate the changes.
1. For on-going works (activities and tasks): Reschedule their Remaining Early Start (RES) & Review remaining duration
1.1. Rescheduling the RES of activity
Follow the following steps to reschedule an on-going activity
Step 1: Double-click the activity to open the detailed view of the activity.
Step 2: Click the Edit button (Pencil Icon) on the top right corner of the detailed view.
.

Step 3: Once you are in the editing mode, you can access the RES (Rem. Early Start) date to change to appropriate date (in this case, 1 June).
Step 4: Review and adjust the remaining duration to ensure it is sufficient for the remaining scope of work with respect to resource availability.
.

Step 5: After selecting the appropriate date in the calendar widget, click Save (Tick icon) to confirm it.
Figure 4: Save the changes made
Step 5: Key in delay reason when asked. Use the appropriate reason to highlight why this change has happened, and click Confirm Changes.
Figure 3: Confirm changes after keying in delay reasons
Notes: Once the RES of an activity is postponed, all of its remaining tasks will be rescheduled accordingly.
1.2. Rescheduling the RES of task
The procedure to reschedule tasks is similar to that for activity. First, double click on the Task to open its Detail view. Follow Step 2 to Step 5 in the previous section for the same purpose.
2. For not-started works (activities and tasks): Change the start date, review the duration & sequence
For activities and tasks that have not started yet, you can simply change their start dates to reschedule them. You can also add new dependencies to follow the new site sequence that will be followed considering the new situation. Here's how to do it:
2.1. Rescheduling the start date of activity and reviewing the duration
Follow the same steps From Step 1 to Step 5 in section 1.1 to change Start Date and Duration of not-started activities.
Click and drag the activity bar in the Gantt Chart (in Masterplan or Lookahead). To learn how to do it, please go to this link below for a video demo.
2.2. Amend construction sequences by changing and/or adding dependencies
Following the follow steps if you need to add a new dependency (predecessor/successor) to better represent the new construction sequences
Step 1: Double-click the activity to open the detailed view and go to the Dependency List tab.
Figure 4: Dependency List tab in detailed view of the activity
Step 2: Select Predecessor or Successor tab & Click Add New Dependency
Figure 5: Add new dependency
Step 3: Select the predecessor in the dropdown list (you can search by typing in the WBS number or part of the activity/task name). Then select the Type of the predecessor and lag time (SS and 1 are used in this example respectively).

Step 8: Click Save to add the dependency.
Figure 7: Rescheduling activities by adding new dependency
For activities that are reachable, adding new dependency can be done easily by connecting their dependency boxes. Please go to this link to learn how to do it.
2.3. Rescheduling the start date of task and reviewing the duration
Similarly, tasks that have not started can also be rescheduled using the following steps.
Step 1: Double-click on the task that you want to reschedule to open the detailed view, and click on the Edit button (Pencil icon).
Step 2: Change the Expected Start date of the task to the appropriate date.
Step 3: After selecting the date, make sure your Expected Duration is also adequate after the resume date to finish the work.
Step 4: Once you save the necessary changes made, Delay confirmation will be asked to key in. Use the appropriate reason to highlight why this change has happened, and click Confirm Changes.
Step 5: After rescheduling certain tasks, you can also add new dependencies between tasks to reflect your new site plan. Double-click the task to open the detailed view and go to the Dependency List tab.
Step 6: Click Add New Dependency.
Step 7: Choose whether to add predecessor or successor.
3. Update the new due dates of crucial preparation works (Constraints)
Due to the same reasons, your preparation work might also be halted along with your site work. Therefore, you will have to reschedule your constraints to appropriate dates to match the current plan. Here’s how to do it:
3.1. Reschedule the existing constraints by changing step due date
Step 1: Double-click the constraint to open the detailed view of the constraint.
Figure 8: Detailed view of the constraint
Step 2: In this case, step 1 “Preparation” has been done, but other steps need to be rescheduled. Say, the second step “Application” can only be done on 1 May. We will reschedule the due date of “Application” to 1 May.
Hover over the step “Application” to show the Edit button (Pencil icon) and click it.
Figure 9: Editing the step of a constraint
Step 3: Change the Due Date (Expected) of “Application” to appropriate date, in this case 1 May.
Figure 10: Edit the due date of a step in constraint
Step 4: Key in the relevant delay reasons and click “Confirm Changes”.
The constraint will be rescheduled, and the activity it is assigned to will be automatically pushed back.
Step 5: Similarly, the other steps of the constraint can be rescheduled.
3.2. Adding new constraints to plan for the new crucial preparation work
Because of the virus outbreak and the circuit break, now you will need to reschedule a lot of work and also plan for new preparation works that need to be done so that site work can start immediately once the circuit break is over. To be fully prepared for this, new constraints can be added to plan out your preparation timeline and work on it with your team together. Here's how to add a new constraint:
Step 1: Single-click on the activity or task to open the widget view, and click Add Constraint.
Figure 11: Add new constraint to activity or task
Step 2: Specify whether it is a technical (drawings, approvals, etc.) or site (access, space, etc.) constraint. Choose the appropriate constraint from the drop-down list and describe in detail what this constraint is about.
Figure 12: Adding a new constraint
Step 3: Specify the ETA. ETA is the minimum number of days between the due date of the last step of the constraint and the start date of the activity or task. For example, if you can start the rebar works on the day that rebar is delivered, ETA is zero. If you need at least one day after the delivery date to start the work, ETA will be 1 day.
Figure 13: ETA of the constraint
Step 4: Specify the necessary steps and their due dates accordingly, if the default steps are not suitable for your plan. Click on the Customise steps to do so.
Figure 21: Customise steps of the constraint
Step 5: You can change the name of the existing steps, delete the existing steps, add new steps and change the due date of each step. Overall assignee of the constraint and assignee for each step must also be specified for clear responsibility.

Step 6: After specifying the steps completely, click Add Constraint to add the constraint.
